32nd annual Sacramento Jazz Jubilee set for May
27 30, 2005, in Sacramento, California
SACRAMENTO,
CALIFORNIA The 32nd annual Sacramento Jazz Jubilee is scheduled
for Friday, May 27 through Monday, May 30, 2005, during the Memorial
Day holiday weekend, at six performance centers throughout Sacramento,
California.
The largest traditional jazz festival in the world, the four-day
celebration attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year who
enjoy more than 125 bands playing a variety of jazz styles, including
British Trad, Chicago, Hot Dance, New Orleans, and San Francisco/West
Coast Revival. The jubilees musical styles have expanded
over the years that will also feature Barbershop, Blues, Gospel,
Latin/Jazz, Ragtime, Swing, Western Swing, and Zydeco. This year,
Modern Jazz is being added to the mix.
This years headliner is Maria Muldaur and her Jazz Quintet.
Although well-known for her 1974 platinum-record hit, Midnight
at the Oasis, Muldaur has continued to perform her musical
love of folk, blues, jazz, and gospel. During the past few years,
she has released three jazz albums, including a Peggy Lee tribute
in 2003
The 2005 jazz jubilees special guest star will be The
Jim Cullum Jazz Band that was featured on the Public Radio International
program, Riverwalk, Live from The Landing.
